The Lions Mission

  • The Lions International Mission Statement is clear: To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.

  • Our Global Causes focus the efforts of Lions and Leos on five service areas with the goal of tripling our humanitarian impact by serving 200 million people per year by 2021. Those areas include: Diabetes, Environment, Hunger, Childhood Cancer and Vision. Our Global Causes complement all of the great ways clubs serve locally, and gives Lions and Leos new opportunities to help meet the growing challenges facing humanity.

  • No matter how you choose to serve, Lions matter now more than ever! To learn more check out the videos below and or the Lions International website at www.lionsclubs.org

FALL IS HERE!

. . . and the Reston Lions are active in the community. The Club officers and I hope that you will enjoy the variety of events and organizations that we are continuing to support and impact in the Reston, Great Falls and Herndon communities.

We have a few events coming up as we enter the busiest time in our year and new beginnings and opportunities for the Lions to be in the community.  Lions will be at the Lake Anne Multi-Cultural Event on September 17.  Adopt-a-Highway clean up will be on October 8.  We are planning our Annual Citrus Sale for early December.  The Annual James Bland Music Scholarship Competition will be held on February 7.  One of our contestants advanced to the State Finals last year.  Our Annual Texas Hold'Em Poker tournament was rescheduled for April 15.

If you are interested in joining Lions, check out the website and see what may interest you and how you can contribute--either through membership or by making a tax deductible donation to the club.  There are many ways you can support a club that has been active in the community for over 50 years and supporting great causes including Vision, Hunger, Diabetes, the Environment, and Childhood Cancer.

Please take a few minutes and tell me what you think about our website or potential activities. You can contact me at: president@restonlions.org.  I look forward to seeing you in the community and supporting Lions.

Yours in Service,

Davida Luehrs

President, Reston Lions
